Boom! 71 reported infections today from King County public health. That’s the lowest number since March 16th.
While it’s good news, there are a couple of factors in play here: The Easter lag and the cleanup in reporting over the weekend. Same day infections made up 85% of today’s tally (vs. 74% and 50% the previous 2 days). There was also a weird situation where going back several weeks, several infections were removed from the tally, lowering today’s reported number. Likely a one-time impact.
If you can believe this, the model says we’ll reach 0 new infections in 17 days. The r-squared has been declining a bit with the recent swings in data. However, it is still looking pretty strong. Tomorrow’s prediction is 119. The linear model says 187. My educated guess is “between the two.”
